ActiveShopper Quick Troubleshooting

Inner-page links:

1) ActiveShopper toolbar does not appear in any e-store that you access.

Possible Cause (a): You have not installed ActiveShopper on your computer.
Solution: Install ActiveShopper. The downloadable version is available here. After installation you should be able to see ActiveShopper in the “Add or Remove Programs” list in your Control Panel. To get there, click on the Windows “Start” menu and then choose “Settings” > “Control Panel” > “Add or Remove Programs”. In addition, you should be able to see ActiveShopper listed as one of the Internet Explorer’s toolbars: Go to the Internet Explorer “View” menu, and then click on the “Toolbars” option. A side menu containing a list of the toolbars should appear and ActiveShopper should be listed.

Possible Cause (b): You have installed ActiveShopper but have uninstalled it later on (or someone else using your computer uninstalled it).
Solution: Reinstall ActiveShopper. The downloadable version is available here

Possible Cause (c): Your are currently not using a Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.
Solution: Open an Internet Explorer browser and try again.

Possible Cause (d): Internet Explorer stores toolbar names in the Windows registry key. Sometimes, for example when new toolbars are added, the list gets disordered.
Solution: Click on this link. After you read the warning, you may click on the button and reset your Internet Explorer Toolbar Menu.

Possible Cause (e): You are using Microsoft Explorer 6 and your current browser configuration does not allow third-party browser extensions.
Solution: In your Microsoft Internet Explorer menu, select “Tools” > “Internet Options” > “Advanced” > “Enable third party browser extensions”.

Possible Cause (f): ActiveShopper is hidden because you clicked the X (close) icon, which appears on the far right side of the toolbar.
Solution: Close your IE browser or open a new browser window. This would cause ActiveShopper to reappear.

2) You access a specific online store and the ActiveShopper toolbar does not appear. It does appear in other stores that you access.

Cause: This e-store is not currently handled by ActiveShopper.

3) ActiveShopper “Store Access” mode toolbar appears when you access a store but it does not change to “Results” mode when you are viewing a product page in this store.

Sometimes ActiveShopper does not find the product that you are viewing in an e-store’s product page. This happens either because the product is in a category that currently ActiveShopper does not handle (such as DVD titles and music CDs), or because although the product is from a category that ActiveShopper handles, it is not in our current list of products. Other specific errors in the way that we read information from the page may also cause this.

4) You feel that ActiveShopper is slowing down your browser/computer.

Cause: You have most probably opened more than one browser and caused some components of the ActiveShopper Toolbar to reload multiple times. To avoid this from happening (and to avoid other programs including the browser itself from loading multiple times), simply use Internet Explorer's File --> New --> Window (or use the Ctrl+N shortcut) when you want to open additional browser windows.
Unlike the IE tray IE icon or the IE desktop icon, this does not cause IE to open as a separate second instance and will improve speed regardless of whether you have ActiveShopper installed or not.
